About this title

About this title

Matewold is a game of chess mate puzzles on a board under the old oaks. White is always to move: give mate in one, two or three moves. Fifty-six puzzles in three chapters were found by the game's own solver in generated positions and checked to have a single key move (mate in one may have two). Any move that still forces mate in time is accepted, and Black always answers with the reply that resists longest. A wrong move costs a star and a hint shows the key move. Full chess rules apply: checks, pins, en passant and promotion. It plays in the browser with a keyboard, mouse or touch, in English or Bulgarian.
