Quillwater

Quillwater is an illustrated interactive fiction story of over 10,000 words. You are Mara Vell, pilot of the ferry Heron, on her last night run up the river Quill with the mail before a new bridge retires her. Five passengers come aboard: an old lock-keeper with an unsent letter, a telegraph clerk who read something she should not have, a doctor racing a fever, a stowaway boy finishing his drowned father's postal round, and a Company surveyor with his own errand. 53 scenes, each with a painted scene drawn in code, track your choices with flags and trust, and lead to four distinct endings.
