Tackmere

Tackmere is a sailing race. Steer a small dinghy through numbered gates on a lake against three rival boats, and let the wind do the rest: you cannot sail straight into it, so upwind legs are a zig-zag of tacks, and the boat is fastest with the wind across its side. A bar shows how well the sail is drawing, a wind rose shows where the wind blows, and the boom swings to the right side on its own. Eight regattas bring islands, shifting wind, dark gust patches that give extra speed, rocky passages and two-lap courses one at a time. Finish first or second to sail on to the next regatta; hitting an island stops you short. Tap the water to steer toward a point, or steer with the arrow keys.
